Magnolia Cottage
Situated in the rural village of Chilcompton, which is well served by two churches, a large village store and post office, and award-winning cafe, the cottage enjoys a peaceful location just off the high street.

Wells
The beautiful Cathedral City is only 15 minutes away. Explore the breathtaking Cathedral, and the oldest inhabited street in England, Vicar’s Close. Visit the Bishop’s Palace with surprisingly large and diverse gardens (highly recommended). Picnic or stroll alongside the moat and see the swans ring the bell when hungry, walk further on to neighbouring villages or visit the park with its active bandstand.
The impressive farmers’ market comes to town on a Wednesday and Saturday and offers fabulous local produce, plants, gifts and homewares.

Bath
Georgian Bath is a privilege to visit with its historical buildings; museums and selection of independent shops and restaurants. There is just so much to do in this beautiful city, a full day or two will be required.
Visit Bath Thermae Spa for a wonderful pampering treat, or visit The Roman Baths to see how the Romans bathed, then enjoy afternoon tea and a jazz trio in the Pump Rooms. Take an open top bus tour including the Skyline for wonderful views over the city.
Visit the Bath Abbey, stroll along the weir or further on for some punting on the river. Or just sit in the Parade Gardens, with their glorious flower displays, overlooking the weir.
Wander through Victoria Park to take in the view of the wonderful Royal Crescent and on to the famous Circus. Within the park is a beautiful botanical garden, tennis courts, crazy golf and active bandstand.
Bath is also home to the Jane Austen Museum and tea room, and the Assembly Rooms with the Fashion Museum and various travelling exhibitions; and the Holborne and American Museums.
Parents take note of the giant children’s playpark with skate ramps, a carousel and sandpits.

Bristol
Bristol is a diverse city with varied cultures and much history. Visit Clifton Suspension bridge designed by Brunel. View the city from Cabot Tower, and explore the SS Great Britain. Enjoy a dockside stroll with a plethora of eateries, or take a water taxi to get around the harbourside. Take in the boutique shops and restaurants of trendy Clifton Village or visit the Museum and Art Gallery. If in town in August then don’t miss the spectacle of the biggest balloon fiesta in Europe.

Somerset Levels
Unique flat landscape stretching from the Avalon Marshes to Mendip and Blackdown Hills. Steeped in history and full of rare wildlife. View the breathtaking Starling Murmurations between Autumn and Spring.

Cheddar Gorge and Cave
This spectacular Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is home to Britain's biggest gorge and the intriguing stalactite caverns. Great for walkers with spectacular high clifftop walks or for the more adventurous the International Centre for Caving and Rock Climbing. Quaint little town with timeless gift shops and cafes and wild mountain goats roaming the gorge. 20 mins.

Glastonbury Abbey and Tor
The ruins of Glastonbury Abbey, legendary burial place of King Arthur. Glastonbury is reputed to have had the oldest Christian Church in England and has a long history as a place of pilgrimage. In more recent times it has attracted 'pilgrims' from many faiths and beliefs and remains a spiritual centre to this day. Climb the infamous Glastonbury Tor for breathtaking views across the Somerset Levels.

Wookey Hole Caves
Visit the spectacular caves and meet the infamous Wookey Hole Witch. This is a unique Somerset experience with a mix of history, mystery and fun, great for families. Don't miss the Dinosaur Village and 4D movie.

Kilver Court Gardens and Designer Outlet Village
Home to the Babysham factory, these stunning landscaped gardens set against Charlton Viaduct, with Parterre, organic vegetable garden, herbaceous boarders and the mill pond, are still a well kept local secret offering a spell of tranquillity. Next to the gardens is the designer Outlet village set in converted mill buildings by Mulberry founder Roger Saul. Fashion and home emporiums; organic farm shop, wonderful café and pantry make this a delightful venue.

Mulberry Factory Shop
Chilcompton is home to Mulberry - designer clothes and bags. Visit the local factory shop at Kilver Court and pick up a designer item at a discounted price.

Stourhead A fabulous day out. Picnic by the beautiful lake in the 18th century grounds. Visit the kitchen garden and tour the house. 40 minutes

Tyntesfield A very special Victorian Gothic Revival house with gardens and parkland fairly recently acquired by the National Trust. Allow plenty of time to stroll through the parklands down to the enormous walled vegetable garden. 45 mins

Lacock Abbey and Village Step back in time in the atmospheric medieval corridors and cloisters of this former nunnery and home of Fox Talbot’s first photograph. Picturesque village (BBC filmed Pride and Prejudice with Colin Firth, Cranford and Harry Potter here) with historic timber-framed houses and the most exquisite tea gardens. 50 mins

Longleat House, Safari and Adventure Park Extensive Safari Park, new multi million pound Jungle Kingdom and Longleat House stately home in magnificent grounds, one of the most stunning stately homes in Britain, and home to Lord Bath, he of the Wifelets! 20 minutes.

Somerset Lavender Farm and Cafe at Faulkland Stunning fields of lavender and a chance to learn about the varieties. Sample lavender shortbread in the cafe and purchase their handmade lavender products. 15 mins.

Weston-super-Mare closest beach will take you back in time, with good old-fashioned seaside amusements on the recently rebuilt pier; and a stroll along the promenade to walk off the fish and chips! 50 mins.

Midsomer Quilting – Norton Green Garden Centre, Chilcompton. An absolute must for quilting and patchwork enthusiasts to browse thousands of fabrics and share ideas and chat over coffee and sewing. 5 mins.
